Today Focus: 1–3 Priorities on Your New Tab

Today Focus in Offiqa keeps the few next actions that matter visible every time you open a new tab. Instead of turning your New Tab into a full task manager, Offiqa helps you capture a quick note, choose the next action, and keep that action connected to the workspace behind it: tabs, notes, and the reason you saved the work.

What Today Focus does

Keep today’s next action close to the browser work it belongs to.

Many workdays create small action fragments: follow up after a call, check a campaign issue, send meeting notes, review a client request, or continue a tab set tomorrow. Today Focus gives those actions a narrow home on your New Tab so they do not disappear inside a long task list.

In Offiqa, a focus item works best when it is connected to a workspace session with tabs, notes, and next actions. The goal is not to organize your whole life. The goal is to help you resume the right work without asking, “Why did I open these tabs?”

Feature explanation

Today Focus is intentionally smaller than a task manager.

Question Use Today Focus when... Do not use it for...
How many items? You need 1–3 visible next actions that guide the day. A full backlog, recurring tasks, subtasks, dependencies, or team project tracking.
What should be linked? The item belongs to a workspace, quick note, client follow-up, campaign check, or meeting action. Loose reminders that have no work context and do not need tabs or notes.
Where should it appear? It should be visible when you open a new tab and decide what to resume next. Long-term planning that should live in a dedicated planner or project system.
What is the outcome? You can click back into the related workspace and continue from the note and next action. You need a complex workflow board or a reporting dashboard.

Pain → Workflow → Offiqa Demo

Turn a quick note into the next action you actually see.

Pain

A useful thought appears while you are switching between tabs: “send the client update,” “check the report issue,” or “follow up after the meeting.” If it stays as a vague note, it is easy to miss when the next tab steals attention.

Workflow

  1. Capture the thought as a quick note on your new tab.
  2. Rewrite it as one next action.
  3. Link it to the workspace or tabs it belongs to.
  4. Keep it in Today Focus until it is done.

Offiqa demo

Offiqa supports this as a quick note → Today Focus flow: capture the note, convert the actionable line, and keep it beside the saved workspace context so the right tabs and next action stay together.

Workspace recipe

A practical Today Focus setup for a browser-heavy day

Example workspace · Client follow-up · 4 tabs

Client ABC Follow-up

CRM Email Calendar Proposal doc

Quick note: Client asked for revised pricing. Mention implementation timing and send the proposal before the afternoon check-in.

Today Focus item: Send revised proposal to Client ABC before 2 PM.

Resume action: Open the client workspace, review the note, send the proposal, then mark the Today Focus item done.

Tabs alone remind you where you were. Tabs plus a note and next action remind you what to do next.

Setup flow

How to choose your 1–3 priorities without turning it into another system

  1. Start from open work, not from a blank list.

Look at the tabs or workspace you are already using. Ask which action would move that work forward today.

  2. Capture the note first.

Write the work context in plain language: what changed, what matters, and what you should remember when you resume.

  3. Extract one next action.

Turn the note into a specific action that starts with a verb: send, review, check, update, confirm, draft, or follow up.

  4. Link it back to the workspace.

The focus item should point to the tabs and notes that make the action easy to resume.

  5. Stop at three.

If everything is Today Focus, nothing is. Keep only the next actions you want to see on every new tab today.

Practical checklist

Before you add something to Today Focus

Add it when the item has context

  • It belongs to a saved workspace, tab set, meeting, campaign, or client.
  • The action can be written in one sentence.
  • You can finish or meaningfully advance it today.
  • You will need to see it more than once during the day.
  • The related note explains why the action matters.

Leave it out when the item is too broad

  • “Work on project” is too vague. “Send homepage revision preview” is clearer.
  • “Clean up all tabs” is too large. “Save campaign review tabs as workspace” is actionable.
  • “Plan the week” is a planning task. Use a tomorrow workspace plan instead.
  • “Research everything” should become a focused workspace with a note and next action.

Copyable pattern

A simple quick note → Today Focus template

Use this when a note has an action hidden inside it. The goal is to preserve the reason and make the next step visible.

Common mistakes

What makes Today Focus fail

  • Adding too many items. Today Focus should stay narrow enough to guide the next browser decision.
  • Writing outcomes without actions. “Proposal” is not a next action. “Send revised proposal to Client ABC” is.
  • Separating the action from the tabs. A focus item is stronger when it opens the workspace with the right tabs and notes.
  • Keeping old priorities visible. Mark done, archive, or rewrite items so the New Tab stays current.
  • Using it as a full task database. Keep larger planning in your existing tools; use Offiqa to resume today’s browser work.

Ready to use it

Set Today Focus from the work context you already have open.

Capture a quick note, turn it into one next action, and keep it visible on your New Tab beside the workspace that contains the related tabs and notes.

FAQ

Today Focus questions

What is Today Focus in Offiqa?

Today Focus is the small set of 1–3 next actions shown on the Offiqa New Tab. It is designed to keep the next step visible beside workspace sessions, quick notes, and focus context.

How is Today Focus different from a full task manager?

Today Focus is intentionally lightweight. It is for the few next actions that should stay visible today, not a full project plan with subtasks, complex statuses, or recurring task systems.

Can a quick note become a Today Focus item?

Yes. The intended workflow is to capture a quick note, choose the action hidden inside it, and turn that action into Today Focus so it appears on the New Tab.

Can Today Focus connect to a saved workspace?

Today Focus is designed to work with Offiqa workspace context, so a focus item can point back to the workspace that contains the related tabs, note, and next action.

Should I add more than three priorities?

Usually no. Today Focus works best when it stays small. Put larger plans in your existing planning system, then use Offiqa for the next actions you need to see while working in the browser.
